How to ride?

How can I install hive?

To download the hive app click here or simply search for "hive scooter" in the App Store or at Google Play.

How do I find a hive?

Install the app and register. The map then will show you which hive is available in your area. If you don’t find an available hive nearby, simply zoom out the map and search the surrounding areas.

How do I unlock a hive?

To unlock your hive, open the hive app and scan the QR code using your phone’s camera or enter the 6-digit code that’s below the QR code.

How do I start riding a hive?

To start, step on the scooter with one foot and push off with the other to start moving. Put your other foot on the footrest to hold a stable position, then press the right-hand throttle to speed up.

Note: To turn, shift your body weight and turn the handle slightly.

How do I slow down and brake with hive?

To slow down and brake, release the green throttle and gently press the red brake. You can also use the foot brake on the back wheel.

Can I park without ending the ride?

You can park your hive momentarily without having to end the trip or find a new hive. Just park and tap "Park Mode" in the app. To continue your trip, tap the lock in the app. You can be in parking mode for 30 minutes.

How do I end the ride?

Before ending the ride, make sure your hive is parked in an accessible area and that it is not blocking sidewalks, public roads or garages. Then just tap “End Ride” in the app.

Who can use hive?

Anyone older than 18 years with an Android smartphone or iPhone.

What is the maximum speed?

hive can speed up to 25 km/h.

Where can I ride hive?

Whenever possible, use bike lanes and always use the lane further to the right. According to the Portuguese legislation, it is forbidden to ride on the sidewalks, spaces exclusively for pedestrians and in BUS lanes.

What about the helmet?

We strongly advise wearing a helmet. Please ride safely and respectfully in accordance with the Portuguese Road Code.

What should I do before I start the ride?

Before you start riding your hive, there’s a verification process that you should follow to ensure everything is working properly:

  • Verify the brakes

  • Verify lights

  • Verify tires

  • Verify if the hive is damaged

How many people can ride the same hive?

Each hive is exclusively for one person. The electric scooters are not built for being used for more than one person (max. weight: 100 kg).

Can I ride a hive in any weather?

It’s safe to drive hive even when it’s raining, as long as it’s not heavy rain or weather that limits the driver's vision. Please be aware of slippery roads and bike lanes.

Where can I park hive?

You can park anywhere, as long as the hive is parked in an accessible area, doesn’t block sidewalks, public roads or garages.

What should I also pay attention to?

Don’t ride over speed bumps, thresholds, or other bumps at high speed. Watch your speed when traveling downhill. Use both brakes together when traveling at high speed. Don’t press the throttle when walking
with the scooter. Don’t rotate the handle violently while driving at high speed. Don’t ride through puddles or other bodies of water deeper than 2 cm. Don’t take your hands off the handlebar while riding. Do not ride with one hand only. Don’t ride up and down stairs or jump over obstacles. Don’t text and hive.

What should I do if my hive runs out of battery?

Stop the hive and tap “End Ride” in the app. Then find a new hive nearby and start a new ride. Do not try to charge a hive, only our certified agents can and know how to do it.

Do I need to pay to download the hive app?

No, it’s totally free.

How do I check my ride history?

You can always see your travel history in “My Rides”.

What should I do in case of an accident?

If you are involved in an accident that has caused physical injury to you, other persons or your hive, contact the support center at help@ridehive.com. If you have a serious accident contact the local emergency number 112. After you are in a safe condition and have contacted local authorities, contact us at +351 308 810 140.

 

 

Price and payment

How much do I have to pay to ride hive?

1 € to unlock the hive plus 0,15 € for every minute you're traveling.

How do I pay?

Enter your credit card data in the app to pay for your trips.

 

 

Privacy

Why do I have to share my GPS location with hive?

We ask that you share your GPS location so you can find the hive closest to you on the map.

Why do I have to give camera access to hive?

We request camera-access to enable the unlocking of the scooter via QR code.
